An ongoing look into the photographs of Osmyn Oree
“Looking for Perfection”
Osmyn Oree Photography 2011
Since i began shooting nude photographs in 2008 i slowly realized that women have way more issues with how there bodies look then i thought. I already knew that these issues were present in how women dress and what not, but i never realized that women judge themselves on a scale everyday they go out regardless of what they are wearing. This photo makes me feel like I’ve captured the essence of what the media wouldn’t want to see per say. The sitter in this photograph IS skinny, but i feel like her posture and the pose that she took really captures HER instead of capturing how she wants others to see her. I really like that aspect because it’s real. If there’s one thing that i can take away from my nude work it’s that i try to capture the actual person and who they are when i photograph them in the nude and not just a naked body. Several people have told me that i do that well, but i’m not gonna get all big headed and think that i’m great because i’m nowhere near where i want to be photographically.Let me know your thoughts on capturing the “real person” in photography whether it’s in nude photography or portraits in general.
